Wonderful World of Wyatt (WWW) 4.0

Well, our main man has just turned 12 weeks old and he is growing way too fast.  He is now slightly bigger than Ginger and her ears fit quite nicely in his mouth.  The two have bonded nicely and seem to be getting along quite well now.  I think Ginger has totally accepted her new little brother as a included picture will tell this week.

Wyatt visited the Vet this past week and received a few shots and the royal treatment.  The whole gang went for the appointment including Ginger who got some special treatment of her own. This a new vet for us as we switched due to their acceptance of the raw diet. They had concerns, but hopefully they are now put to rest based upon Patty supplying the ingredients to her food. Wyatt weighed just over 17lbs. and is a growing boy. He has a great appetite and eagerly awaits for his food. He is still a fluff ball with awesome puppy breath.  If anyone figures out how to keep puppy breath forever, you will be rich beyond your wildest dreams.

Training is going well. Speaking of food, Wyatt is really good now about waiting to be told to eat. His potty training is really successful in that he always goes when let out, but doesn't automatically go to the door yet to go outside. We are also working on now jumping up on people and things.  This is coming along albeit slowly (for me).  He is very smart however and it picking things up surprisingly fast.  At this point, it is just a lot of Pete and Re-Pete. He is also doing very well on the leash.  At this point, he is no longer crossing in front of me when we walk.  The tripping factor is all but eliminated.

Wyatt is getting used to us and his new home.  He has calmed down quite a bit now and even relaxes frequently.  I'm glad, because I need rest as well... he is a growing boy and I'm a growing older boy.  I think we each enjoy our naps.

Wyatt continues his outings to meet and greet people.  When I got to coffee without him, all people want to know is where is Wyatt?  It's great to be loved (and forgotten - thanks friends) Anyway, he is very social and most people can't resist wanting to pet him. His fur is still very soft and the baths he gets make him even softer.

This is a wrap for this week.  Stay tuned for adventures with Wyatt.  Until next time:  Woof!

Wonderful World of Wyatt (WWW) 3.0

Wonderful World of Wyatt (WWW) 3.0

Week 3 begins.  Wyatt met our groomer Susan for the first time today (5/9/15) and as expected, she fell in love with the little dude.  Susan has been grooming our dogs for over 12 years and she was devastated when we had to put our beloved red (golden) boy Cooper down in January. But, nothing lights up a room like a puppy.  They had a great time today getting to know each other and Wyatt came back nice and clean.  (video to follow)

Wyatt also got his first exposure to real snow at our house. He went outside and ran around in the snow, laid out flat and then tried to bite the large snowflakes as they fell from the sky.  The weather people are predicting between 5 - 10" for Mother's Day.  Yikes.

Wyatt is also spending a good deal of time harassing Max - one of our cats (Max thinks he is a dog however)

Wyatt is doing very well on the dogie training side of things. Potty training is going really well and so are a few other things he is learning. He has become intimately familiar with the word NO too.

Wyatt will be going to the Vet this coming week to continue his shot regimen.  We are doing the raw diet, so we are transferring to the Vet that Patty recommended that doesn't have issues with the diet.

Wyatt says:  Woof, Woof until next time.   Dog 5

Wyatt 2.0

Week 2 began with more introductions to friends (human and animal) and people and places.  I discovered a few things this week:  Wyatt gained about 5 pounds, Wyatt likes to ride in the car and Wyatt likes to make new friends in Dad's places.

Dad traveled to the V.A. hospital this past week as his awesome nurses were going crazy wanting to meet the new puppy.  Dad took Wyatt for a car ride and we met the girls at the front entrance. Coincidentally, Dad needed some lab works done, so the girls were more than happy to watch him in their 9th floor office.  When Dad returned to "retrieve" (pun intended) him, he was having difficulty gaining custody from the nurses who fell in love with Wyatt and didn't want to give him back. Yikes!

Wyatt returned to Starbucks a few times as well, where the Starbucks people wanted to make him the official greeter. He has made plenty of friends there while visiting a few times a week.

Wyatt, being a puppy seems to have the need to taste everything and chew whatever he can get his mouth on. Teething regardless of two or four legs is a long process to endure for older humans. We hope the process moves along quickly and there is still items left in the house that don't contain teeth marks.  Ha Ha.

Wyatt has also done well with his training. He now does several basic commands pretty well each time:  Sit, Shake, Wait (sits and waits to go to his food), Come, and my favorite Potty.  He has only had a couple of accidents in two weeks and is getting the hang of going to the back door when he needs to go out to Potty.

We truly love this guy and are enjoying him very much.  We can't say all of our other pets are as excited as we are, but they are slowly either coming around or are staying away from Mr. Happy as much as possible.  We've had some really funny encounters where our true cat does not like him at all and let him know it quite quickly.  Our other two cats (who are more dog like) have taken up playing with him little by little.

Here are a few new pictures taken during the week.  More to  follow in the next update. Until next time - woof!
